Using the MCPR tool to get rid of a McAfee product is not all that hard, but you should understand that you will first have to uninstall the McAfee product you want to get rid of in the traditional way before you can remove all traces of it that are left behind using the MCPR tool. If you want to completely uninstall a McAfee product from your computer, you will not only have to uninstall the program but also run the MCPR tool to clean up the mess that the program leaves behind. The MCPR tool is McAfee’s resident cleanup crew. This is where the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool comes in. As is the case with most computer and internet security applications, getting rid of a McAfee product is not as easy as simply uninstalling the program itself you need to also get rid of the residual files it leaves behind. McAfee is one of the largest manufacturers of computer and internet security products out there, and if you have a McAfee product on your computer, you’d better know that it is there to stay. You can use the EPR tool until the day before the expiration date in your local timezone. When it comes to computer and internet security, there are a few names that almost every person who has ever downloaded a third-party antivirus or security program has heard of, and McAfee happens to be one of these names. You can check the expiration date from the About Endpoint Product Removal menu on the right-click menu in the title bar. NOTE: The EPR tool by default has an expiration date for security reasons. We recommend that you use specific managed product arguments to remove products.

For information about the latest versions of Trellix software that a version of the EPR tool can remove, see the user guide for that version of the EPR tool. For this reason, EPR tool releases are designed to expire every 90 days. If you try this, unexpected results might occur. You must not use an older version of the EPR tool to remove newer versions of Trellix software. If you need the EPR tool after all standard methods for uninstallation have proved unsuccessful, always make sure that you use the latest available version. The EPR tool is intended as a last resort option when standard uninstallation methods have failed. IMPORTANT: Technical Support does not recommend using the EPR tool as your primary method to uninstall Trellix products, nor when you have uninstallation issues for the first time.

You can use the EPR tool when these methods all fail.

There are also instances where these methods might fail.
